National Safety Conferences for the safety of mines (NSC) are organized at periodic interval(generally ten years or after a major disaster) with a view to provide a common forum at the National level for all those who are concerned with the health , safety and well being of those who live by labor in mines. The basic aim is to review in a spirit of mutual cooperation the status of safety in mines and the adequacy of existing measures. Main objectives of NSC are
1) to discuss disaster and major accident causing loss of life and property
2) trend analysis of accidents
3) technology up gradation and health measures etc
4)Awareness of workers
5)Overall environment in mines & mineral industry
6) Recommending remedial measures for improving safety environment in mines.
