    1.How did you prepare for OMCL written exam?

    (Without wasting much time in general knowledge part, I focused on core majorly and partly on aptitude.

    One month before exam, I referred N.C. Dey and Gorai for preparation without focusing on many books. Took part in Q/A discussion on mine portal group which helped me a lot.)

     

    2. What was your strategy for solving the questions in the examination hall?

    General awareness

    Negative marking : -0.25 for every wrong answer.

    Aptitude, English and reasoning were too easy.

    All the core questions were theoretical and majorly from those two books.

    - Finished the non-core part first followed by the core easy questions. Focussed on difficult questions later.

    3.How did you prepare for the interview?

    1. Revised all the mine visit reports during my B.Tech.

    2. Focused on one subject and made it my strong hold area.(Referred DJ Deshmukh and class notes)

    3. Revised my B.Tech project objective, procedure and results.

    4. Kept myself away from any disturbances (social media) and practiced for interview. It was my daily routine.

    I caught hold of many of my friends to take my mock interview.  Result was too much disturbing.

     4. Tell us about your interview experience ?

    Interview consisted of two rounds : first was technical and second was taken by MD of the company.

    First round had 3 members and second round had MD along with all the directors (almost 10 in Nos.) in panel.

    Interviewer: introduce yourself.

    Interviewer: your educational background and your scores are telling that you should go for higher education

    Me: There are many more qualified people who are in teaching line, I think I m not required there.

     

    Interviewer: good. What Softwares do you know?

    Me: (answered..)

     

    Interviewer: Your strong hold subject ?

    Me: explosives, blasting and fragmentation..

     

    Interviewer: what are the types of explosives based on VOD

    Me: (answered..)

     

    Interviewer: Draw some blast hole pattern.

    Me: (answered..)

     

    Interviewer: What is decking and it's purpose?

    Me: (answered..)

     

    Interviewer: what is stemming and it's purpose?

    Me: (answered..)

     

    Interviewer:  What are the constitutes of ANFO and AN: Fuel (diesel) ratio?

    Me:  (Answered as per D.J.  Deshmukh) 

     

    Interviewer: How can you control ground vibration from blasting?

    Me:  Told about Peak Particle Velocity and Maximum Charge per Delay (answered..)

     

    Interviewer: what are the vibration standards as per DGMS guidelines?

    Me: (answered..)

     

     

    Interviewer: What is the purpose of controlled blasting and what are different methods of controlled blasting?

    Me:  Told about Line drilling, Cushion blasting and pre-splitting

     

    Interviewer: Do you know about mine plan?

    Me:  Yes (Answered in little detail)

    Interviewer: ok

    (I was quite happy that I answered almost all the questions, I answered first few questions correctly that boosted my confidence up ,It was a competition against many manager certificate holders, I was not sure if I will be selected)

     

    Interviewer: Why do you want to join OMC? CIL exam is also ahead. If you get selected in both the companies, which one will you go for?

    Me: (gave two reasons why OMCl and convinced them that I will not go for CIL if am getting it here)

     

    Interviewer: Tell about your family.

    Me: (Tried my best to make use of it properly.)

     

    Interviewer: Ok Sameer You may go now.

    Me: Thank you sir

     

    5. How important do you feel mock tests are and why?

    I feel, mock tests make a student attached and connected to the core subject. It helps in brushing up of our memory. If one wants to get in touch with ones core subjects perpetually then, mock tests are highly recommended.

    6. How much MinePortal team helped you and any suggestion for improvement?

    I am connected to Mineportal team from the time of its inception. Whenever I get some doubts I put forward the question in the group. I am very much grateful to the team for helping technically time to time.

    7. Your suggestions for the upcoming aspirants?

    Job scenario is changing nowadays one must be very much sincere in his/her preparation. Practice as much questions as possible. Be in touch with your fellow friends and get updated with the changing concepts and technology.  Many whatsapp and telegram mining groups are also there which provide a platform to discuss anything related to mining.
