During campus placement, they take Group Discussion (GD) and based on that

they select candidates for interview. Our GD topic was “ How will you improve

productivity of an Open Case Mine”.

Interview The interview panel consisted of five members of different subsidiaries. Upon

seating, they didn’t ask for my resume or other credentials, straight forward they jumped into asking

me questions.

Following questions were asked ( as far as I remember):

1)Name the subsidiaries of CIL

2)Name the coal producing companies operating in Jharkhand

3)What is the gallery height and width in continuous miner district

4)Make an outline of continuous miner district mentioning the machine movements

and unit operations involved

5)How is that the height of galleries in continuous miner district is beyond 3m

against the regulation

6)What are the devices to detect mathane in a mine ?

7)How do we measure the in situ methane concentration at the face

Most of the questions I answered correctly except one or two, but the overall

interview went as if I was having discussion with the panel, it was a two way

communication where they even explained some answers where I fumbled.

Advice

They can ask you anything in interview. But be prepared with history of CIL, its

working culture, subsidiaries, production and technology that they are using. If
