1. General Safety & Legislation

• Duties: Workmen, officials (except managers).

• CMR 2017: Working, explosives, transport, fire/gas/water safety.

• Overman: Report writing, regulation compliance.

• Safety: Hazard ID, risk, SMP.

• Gases: Properties, detection (FSL, GC, detectors).

• Accidents: Causes, reports, site preservation.

• Rescue/Health: Gas effects, rescue gear, First Aid, miners’ diseases.

2. Methods of Working

• Geology: Seam structure, faults, precautions.

• Shafts: Sinking, supports, inspections.

• OC Mining: Manual/mech, machines, safety, dumps, reclamation.

• UG Mining: B&P, Longwall, depillaring, waterlogged areas.

• Roof Support: RMR, bolting, SSR, stowing.

• Explosives: Safe use, blasting, inspection.

• Dust/Water: Suppression, dams, water plans.

• Plans: Fencing, statutory plan reading.

3. Ventilation, Explosions, Fires, Inundation

• Ventilation: Natural/mech, fans, air quantity, appliances.

• Gases: Detection, standards.

• Lamps: Flame/electric – use & care.

• Explosions: Dust/gas, prevention.

• Fire: Sealing, firefighting, inspections.

• Water: Inundation, dams, recovery steps.

4. Mining Machinery

• Machines: SDL, LHD, CM, drills, dozers, etc.

• Engines: Steam, IC.

• Electricity: Use & precautions.

• Winding: Ropes, signals, devices.

• Transport: Haulage, tracks, tubs, codes.

• Pumps: Types, drainage.

• Install: Machinery shifting rules.

• Conveyors: Belts & safety.
