DETONATING FACTOR AND SPECIFIC DRILLING
Detonating factor ( DF) is the amount of rock or ore fragmented per number of detonators used for blasting.
In coal mining, DF means tonnes of coal obtained per detonator used.
Detonating
factor depends on hardness of coal, dimensions of gallery, cleavage in
coal, types of explosive and more importantly on effectiveness of
drilling and blasting operations.
